Customary fall pics

Leaves

Every fall season I indulge in taking photos of autumn leaves. Generally speaking, they are all the same; nevertheless, I enjoy it thoroughly.

It’s done

All the pages and galleries are restored.

Now I just have to add pics from before 2007 - that's four years worth of photos - and the rest of the stuff from 2018 and 2019 that I failed to put on the old site.

Also coming is my family tree (with a lot of naked branches, alas) and a short text in Russian with some explanations of who is who in the old family photos.

Raintree

Raintree

Sooner or later we will move out of this neighborhood. The house will become too large for us, or insane Illinois taxes will push us out to Texas, or some new job will make it necessary, but we will leave this place behind some day. When that happens, I would like to remember it like this, in full October colors.

More of Devil’s Lake

Devil's Lake in October

Another day trip to Devil's Lake. Family trip, but the family was busy rock climbing, so I went and took some more pictures, since the weather was radically different this time around. No dramatic skies, a lot of sun instead, and still not much of famous Wisconsin reds and yellows.

Door County

Lighthouse in Door County

And while I was photo-hiking around Devil's Lake, Lena and Anne were having some gloomy autumn fun in Door County, which (for those who doesn't know it) sits on the peninsula between Green Bay and Lake Michigan. They are both (Anne and Lena, I mean) ecstatic about that place.

Devil’s Lake

Devil's Lake

I had a chance to drive to Devil's Lake alone, while Lena and Anne were enjoying Door County, and Liza was at Isa's. The plan was to try HDR techniques in landscape photos. Result: nothing special, photos look like garden variety postcards from the 70s. The walk was great though, despite the trails being seriously crowded. I guess the only way to see that park with no crowds is to visit it on a weekday mid-February.

I'd also like to resurrect the birthday portrait tradition.

Archive

The Torban family circa 1930

Just finished restoring the family archive section. There are pages for the Rosenfelds, the Gliks, the Samotyyas, and the Boguslavskys.

Unbelievable. Just two generations back, and there is almost no photos. Few dozens pictures, and that's it. And no information, we never did much of family history. Мy great-grandfather had twelve siblings; what happened to them, who are their descendants, where do they live? I have no idea.

Homecoming 2021

First Homecoming for our freshmen. Went pretty smoothly, no drama, no traumas. They were even happy with their outfits, and they are never happy with their outfits.
